Brexit II

We have already posted the technical details we where given by DHL and Amazon and the steps we will take regarding Brexit recently.

Given the deadline getting closer, we urge everyone from the UK who intends to order any toys from our store, please to do so no later then next week. Even if there is a delay, there is likely to be at least some chaos after that date. Wheels are already in motion everwhere around us even if the Brexit itself may or may not be postponed for a few weeks or a few month or a year.
Banks, credit cards, Paypal, DHL, Royal Mail, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de delivering to the UK, widely fluctuating GBP/EUR exchange rates,… there are a lot of external entities we have to rely on to conduct business and everyone of them prefers to be on the safe side even if it means turning down business for a weeks or two or suddenly making their service more expensive.

Thank you.

New Bank Account

We are currently switching bank accounts.
New orders paying by SEPA bank transfer will already retrieve the new account details for their payment.
The old account will still remain valid for a few weeks.
This should be plenty of time for the very few bank transfer -orders in the shop that have not payed yet. (*)

Advantages

While being quite an ordeal for a privat bank account, such a switch is a bit more involved when it’s about a company account. Over the past few weeks we have set in motion most of the paperwork involved (including customs- and tax offices) and so far the transition seems to run smoothly.

The advantage for you: SEPA bank transfer payments arrive within a day instead of 2-3 days now. (With Commerzbank, they didn’t become visible in online banking until some time later. Thus we could not ship as quickly as would be otherwise possible.)

The advantage for us: In the end we’ll even pay much less fees. Up to now our Aval for a simplified customs process was quite expensive and every customer paying by SEPA bank transfer would cost us about 0,15€ in addition to a monthly fee. While not free (Company bank accounts that include cash handling and a Maestro card are not) this is now much cheaper and the SEPA payment fees are gone up to a very comfortable monthly limit.

Say no to Commerzbank / Comdirect.

Based on how they handle very long time customers (we’re talking decades here).
Not just one or two or a dozen or 3 dozen customers.
We’re talking thousands. Whole families, businesses, entire diplomatic embassies.
People in good and very good standing. People being granted the elevated „First“ status by this bank. Not only free accounts that never run up any overdraft or loan interest and thus don’t make their bank much money. Even business customers who pay considerable banking fees every month, heavy hidden fees in exchange rates and quite hefty fees for business services such as an Aval or business SEPA debit mandates.

We can not recommend anyone to choose this bank and to leave there while you still can. In case you are with them, here are some sources you should seriously consider:

There is a reason they need to advertise a staggering 100eur for new customers there (any seemingly very often not paying that). Think about it!

This is separate from their terrible standing with being thrown out of the DAX index .
As as result 7300 employees where let loose. 4210 of them in corporate banking. In the medium sized business support this ment 50% of staff in southern Germany and 40% in northern Germany. (Handelsblatt late 2017)
This ment unreachable/bad and constantly changing business customer service representatives (1) including ours. We’re not going into details about our own experiences there due to internal details. TL:DR: All business service stopped after late 2018 and it seems all good customer service staff have left on their own for better banks even before the layoffs.

*) Given that orders with payment by SEPA bank transfer that still haven’t payed a week after get a gentle reminder with the bank details and after multiple weeks and reminders must get canceled anyway so as not to block toy-inventory that other people would like to buy.)

New delivery by KnotMe arrived

The announced delivery arrived and everything has been added to the shop already.
It’s great when the manufacturer already puts our barcodes on there, so all we have to do is put them in the correct shelved. 😉

As announced, the „Clyde (M)“ is back in stock.

(Yes, postings in the category „Disturbing Dildo Deliveries“ are basically copy&pasted.
There is just nothing original to write about such a thing but many people are waiting
for toys of a specific manufacturer to come in, so it’s important we post these.)

Brexit

Yes, none of us can hear it anymore but the date of a possible „hard Brexit“ is creeping nearer. We will update this blog posting as more information arrives from our the companies who’s services we use.

Amazon

A week before the possible hard Brexit (22.3.2019) we will deactivate our presence on Amazon.co.uk until is becomes clear how this is to continue.

Amazon is urging is to stockpile our products in their UK warehouse but we are too small and our UK sales too irregular to do that. We need our stock right here for our many EU customers.

DHL

Starting 26.3.2019 DHL requires us to add details customs documentation to all packages for destinations within the UK, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
Delivery times for these destinations can not be guaranteed by DHL and thus also not by us.

In Case of a hard Brexit, DHL will start requiring an additional „Brexit Fee“ starting on the 2019-04-01 „or later“ for the handling. We will add that to the shipping price unaltered. The fee is an additional 10.29€ .

New delivery by Zetacreation arrived

The announced delivery of Dildos by Zetacreations (English / German) arrived.

The new stock to is already available in our shop.
Except for the Durka The Dingo all toys made by Zetacreations are back in stock.
Note that with Zeta we do NOT offer the option to order custom toys because of the rather long waiting times until an order becomes a delivery.

New KnotMe delivery

A new delivery of KnotMe toys is on it’s way.
It should arrive shortly.

Currently the medium sized „Clyde“ is out of stock.
This should change when the delivery arrives.

Improved statistics

This may sound boring but for us this is a big deal.

We can now make better predictions for toys that have already run out of stock and get a better recommendation on how many to order. They take the current, medium term and long term situation situation into consideration.

Why is this important for you?

We constantly keep toys by 13 manufacturers in stock and with custom, discontinued and upcoming toys we have reached nearly 900 different toys and variations in the system.

If you are able to order a toy in the YiffyToys shop, this means we actually have it right here in the small warehouse to ship it right away. That means we had to order it some time between 2 weeks and 4 month ahead of time.

So with the money we have at hand, we need to have a good prediction of what toys will be ordered. Else we would waste our limited space (and considerable funds) on overstocked toys instead of a broader selection for you to choose from.

FurryStyle Tiny Foxcoon V2 back in stock

It’s a rather rare occurence for any toys made by FurryStyle to run out of stock but for a few weeks this actually happened to the larges one.

Finy Foxcoon V2

Fortunately this situation has now been resolved and it is back in stock.

How we do photos and size comparisons

Why photograph yourself?
For all the different toys, we do our own photos.
This has a simple reaon. We aggregate lots of very different manufacturers. All of them do their photos differently. Some even don’t do their own photos. Some have a black background. Some a gradient. Some don’t show the specific colour variation we stock in their photos. Some leave a lot of white space around the toy, some crop very tightly. Some include some random object for a size comparison.
So to have all of them integrate nicely with the shop and have them look similar (especially when watching a shop category that is selected not by manufacturer but by species or size), we do our own photographing.

How we choose to do size comparisons.
Comparing sizes online is surprisingly difficult.

But… soda cans?
Some manufacturers and dealers include a sode can as a reference. While it may sound reasonable, it actually doesn’t work. While in your particular area only 2 or 3 sizes seem to be around and you are tempted to think that this is how big a soda can is, it isn’t. In every part of this world they are sized differently. Not just metric vs. imperial. In Europe you can see this when crossing a border to France, Poland or the Netherlands. 0.2L, 0.25L, 0.33L or 0.5L? Same volume but wide or slim? Slighly undersized at the airport to look bigger then it actually is?
This applies to any household item. We we choose not do go this way.

How about a ruler then?
We already take our own meassurements and post all length, diameter and circumfence values in standard metric and converted to imperial as product attributes. They can be searched, filtered and sorted.
It just makes no sense to do mug shots in front of some kind of metric+imperial ruler or striped background here. (Also any lens distortion would make this misleadingif the background is not right behind the shaft. A thing that is often prevented by the base of the toy.)

So what then?
What we do is to compare toys to other, common toys.
We think this is the most meaningful comparison for people. They already own one toy and can relate to how that length, knot or shape feels. If you see another toy depicted right next to the one you already know, perfect.
However… we can’t photograph every toy with every other toys we have access to.
So what do we do?
A long time ago, we selected a number of very common and distinctive toys and set one of each aside for just this reason. One of the most prominent ones being the Akita, Foxcoon and the Tiny. We have since retired the Tiny as it’s no longer as popular as it was many years ago as a first toy for many people.
We have added new toys to our collection whenever we could. Usually when we got hold of a slightly defective one. As overseas manufacturers will make very, very sure never to send anything with small defecs all across the globe, this means that we have more toys from FurryStyle then anyone else for this. We never favour any manfacturer over another and try to be perfectly fair, so I hope you accept this explanation.
From these we try to select toys of a similar shape and size that make for a meaningful comparison. If you want to compare 2 toys, chances are good both have been photographed next to the same compasiron toy and you can use both these photos along with the stated meassurements to make your decision.

Perfection?

When new deliveries come in, it’s a busy time. When these include new toys that shall be for sale as soon as possible, even more so.
Doing a dozen photographs for each one of >300 toys over many years and even a generations of photography equipment is work. Post processing every single one of them is even harder.
So while we do want to have absolutely stunning and perfectly photos, this is not practical. The reality is that we are a dealer, not an art galery and photos are but one part. Without size meassurements, weight, description, price calculation, technical details for reordering, customs and keeping up with currency fluctuations, finding and organizing the storage space for the new toy all have to be done at the same busy time. The toys need to be unpacked, cleaned, dried, new packaging printed (product safety regulations) and a lot of heavy lifting done.
So we had to come up with a style that looks good, shows off the shape, size, texture and colour of each toy very well yet can be repeated 2000 times even when in a hurry.
In the end we came up with a fixed light setup and fixed light and camera settings that can accomoate deep black, white and slightly reflective toys as well as anything from a tiny to an enourmous toy, size compasisons of two toys and group photos.

Reshoot?
We would like to come back and reshoot some of the older photos.
But running a business is hard work and this work never stops.
And the toy needs to be available, prepared hours in advances (to dry after cleaning) and be packaged and returned to the inventory later.
So the reality is that we don’t get around to actually do this very often. Sorry.

Delivery of Zetacreations toys on it’s way

A new delivery of Dildos by Zetacreations (English / German) is on it’s way.

Impatient?
You can track the shipment if you like.

ETA
As usual, we expect it to arrive in about 10 business days (including customs). Then we just have to count, label and sort it for the new stock to be available in our shop (English Shop / German Shop). When that happend, we’ll report here again, so you can place your orders on items that are curretly still out of stock.

Custom dildos
As always with this manufacturer, we do not offer custom orders to be included in the next shipment because if the long lead-time.
