We have 2 important toy deliveries from Foxy Rabbit and Exotic Erotics for Eurofurence Dealers Den. Both are waiting in the local DHL delivery center since 10 days.
New DHL prices for February
With DHL lowering it’s „energy-surcharge“ from 3,75% to 2,50%, we can lower the prices for shipping within Germany starting today for at least February and March. The surcharge for April will be announced by DHL at the end of February.
Austria
As announced, we have to increase shipping prices to Austria (the one without kangaroos) to offset the cost of their new recycling laws not having a threshold-clause for small businesses and requiring us to have an expensive representative in Austria instead of just licensing our packaging material for recycling. Sorry.
DHL Tag
Given how often we have posted about DHL in the past, we added a new hashtag „DHL“ to the blog and all past entries mentioning them.
Layout improvements
We have made a number of improvements to the layout of the home page.
- The Brexit text is now more concise and uses up less space.
- The footer is not horizontal and does not cause excessive scrolling
- advanced search (often not found) is now prominently in the center
- We added a widget to display products that are currently reduced in price (if any)
Stupid Austria packaging-recycling law
Background info
We do pay for recycling all cardboard and plastic we buy or import.
We do send proof of the amount we licensed to the German authorities.
Sadly, there is no European licensing.
That’s obviously bad with 27 EU countries.
We have absolutely no problem doing the same for the cardboard and plastic our shipment to Austria make up.
It’s a tiny amount. Licensing it is not overly expensive and after serveral weeks of research, easy to do. The price is mainly made up of an administrative fee per license. The actual amount of licensed material is mere cents.
Just even more yearly bureaucracy to handle.
The problem
The problem is not licensing our materials for recycling in Austria.
The problem is that Austria demands a company in Austria to act as a representative.
„§ 16b Verpackungsverordnung 2014 „Bevollmächtigter für ausländische Versandhändler (Verpackung)“..“
There is no minimum or threshold anymore
They demany this the very moment any business sends a single paper envelope to Austria.
There was a Minimum business size called „Kleinstabgeber“ but is it discontinued 2022-12-31.
And enlisting with any Austrian representative („Bevollmächtigter“) is really expensive.
While the recycling makes up 40-80ct (mainly due to a minimum administrative fee),
we would have to charge an additional 8€ per delivery to Austria to offset this.
Changes
Insted of 8,8€, we will raise the shipping prices for Austrian customers by 3.10€ per parcel to offset a part of this additional cost.
Starting with February update to shipping prices because DHL lowered it’s monthly „energy surcharge“ for German destinations.
All non-recurring cost for registration will thus be paid by us (and thus by all customers collectively) and the recurring cost is distributed based on the amount of parces to Austria we shipped before the Covid-19 pandemic, supply chain issues and global recession.
DHL Germany still on strike
The worker’s union Verdi announced a strike at DHL for today.
So parcels and mail may get delayed a bit.
Update
7 days later DHL in Germany is still on strike.
450.000 parcels currently not moving (7% of the regular parcels per day)
Hopefully they’ll find an agreement with their employees soon.
A delivery by Exotic Erotics just arrived

WWII bomb disposal near YiffyToys
Today we had to evacuate for a World War II aerial bomb disposal.
This is the second time this happened to us.
Now we’re allowed back into the YiffyToys shop.
Everything went smoothly.
Sadly these things are still a very common occurence in Germany.
You’re lucky if one is found and disposed instead of them blowing up on their own.
Acid time delay fuses are just a bitch.
Usually they are found during construction work.
Yes, sometimes „disposal“ means these huge beasts have to be detonated in place.
That’s why such large parts of the city are evacuated with the red cross setting up camp in the trade show halls and everything.
Exotic Erotics prices lowered
As announced, we have finally lowered the prices of all imported toys due to the relaxed exchange rates between Euro and US-Dollar.
The last manufacturer we worked out way through was Exotic Erotics.
Note that there is also a delivery by Exotic Erotics currently on the way to restock many toys.
Zetacreations restocked, prices adjusted
The announced delivery of Dildos by Zetacreations (English / German) arrived.
The new stock is already available in our shop.
However 3 of 60 toys are still out of stock.
We have also adjusted the prices to match the EUR/USD exchange rate used in this order.
Many have been lowered by up to -4€. Some have been slightly raised by up to +1€.

Lower prices for Horny Ram
With the improved EUR/USD exchange rates,
we have now lowered the prices for Horny Ram toys.
e.g. the Large Ekino from 192.56 to 188€ and the Brutus from 155 down to 118€
